Binance US appoints new chief compliance officer amid regulatory challenges

Binance US, the American arm of the leading global cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the appointment of Lesley O’Neill as its new Chief Compliance Officer. This strategic move comes in the wake of heightened regulatory scrutiny by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC has recently intensified its focus on cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance US. In June, the agency filed a lawsuit against the company for allegedly conducting unregistered sales of crypto asset securities and mishandling customer funds. The cryptocurrency industry is currently undergoing a significant shift towards compliance and regulatory adherence.
