Coinbase to introduce open-sourced code for Base

Base, a layer-2 network, Coinbase, introduced its open-sourced code repositories and smart contracts. The new network is expected to increase transparency and accountability while simultaneously allowing public contributions to the project, stated Cointelegraph. Open-source development is an integral part of the crypto ethos. By making code public, anyone in the community can audit the code, which, hypothetically, allows vulnerabilities and potential exploits to be noticed and patched more quickly than if kept in-house. “Open source is a win-win for our on-chain future,” Base told Cointelegraph.
